Our services
Electrical service entrance
The service entrance connects your home to the Hydro-Québec grid. Worn out, damaged by an ice storm, or too small for your plans, it can be replaced safely, permits and inspections included.
Two options
Overhead or underground: which one is right for your home?
Overhead service entrance
- →The most economical option to install or replace
- →Quick work, often done in a single day
- →Exposed to ice and falling branches, worth checking after every storm
Underground service entrance
- →Safe from ice, wind and an unobstructed view
- →Higher installation cost (excavation and conduits)
- →Often required for new construction
Not sure what works on your street? We come by, look at how the network is laid out and present both scenarios with real costs, no guesswork.
Warning signs
A worn-out service entrance is not repaired. It is replaced.
The service entrance carries everything your home consumes. When it ages, the risks are not visible from the living room, but they are real.
- Frayed wires or cracked insulation along the service mast
- Mast corroded, loose or damaged by ice storms
- A 60 A service on a modern home
- You are adding an EV charger or a generator and the service is at its limit
- The meter socket is aging or no longer up to code
- Hydro-Québec has flagged a faulty connection
- Overhead or underground service entrance replacement
- Mast, service bracket and clearances up to code
- 100 A to 200 A upgrade (with Hydro-Québec)
- Replacement of the service wiring and meter socket
- Coordination of outages with Hydro-Québec
- Compliance inspection and report

Frequently asked questions
Service entrances: what people ask us.
Overhead or underground?
Overhead is more economical; underground protects against ice storms. We compare both based on your street and your lot.
How long will the power be out?
A few hours, scheduled in advance with Hydro-Québec.
When does a service entrance need replacing?
Frayed wires, cracked insulation, a corroded mast, or a 60 A service on a modern home are all warning signs.
Who pays for the Hydro-Québec side?
Network-side connection costs are Hydro-Québec's responsibility; the house side (mast, wiring, meter socket) is yours. We break it all down in the quote.
Can I go from 100 A to 200 A without redoing everything?
Often yes on the house side; on the network side, Hydro-Québec must approve the request. We handle the paperwork.
An ice storm tore my mast off. What should I do?
Do not touch anything and call us: we secure the site, assess the damage and coordinate the repair with Hydro-Québec.
