Electrical panel replacement
The electrical panel is the heart of your home. If it is outdated, overloaded or a risky brand, replacing it protects your family and prepares your installation for future projects: EV charger, heat pump, spa.
Warning signs
Your panel is talking to you. Listen.
A failing panel does not break down without warning. These signs almost always announce a problem that gets worse, and that costs more if it waits.
Get my panel checked- 01 Breakers tripping often, for no apparent reason
- 02 A smell of hot plastic near the panel
- 03 A panel that is warm to the touch or emits a hum
- 04 Federal Pacific, Zinsco or Stab-Lok brands (dangerous panels)
- 05 A 60 A service on a home with modern needs
- 06 Fuses instead of breakers, or exposed wiring
Risky brands
Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Stab-Lok: panels that must go.
Certain panel brands installed between the 1950s and 1990s have shown alarming failure rates: their breakers do not trip during overloads or short circuits, exposing wiring to overheating and increasing the risk of fire.
If your panel bears one of these brands, replacing it is not cosmetic work. It is a safety measure. During the assessment, we identify the brand and model, and we frankly explain the condition of your installation.
Which capacity
100 A or 200 A: the right choice for the next twenty years.
100 A
Suitable for a home without major equipment. Enough if your needs stay classic and the panel is in good condition.
200 A
The standard for a modern home: EV charger, heat pump, spa or sauna all become possible without compromise. Often the best value over the long term.

Frequently asked questions
Electrical panels: what we get asked.
100 A or 200 A?
It depends on your current and future needs (EV charger, heat pump, sauna). We give you a recommendation after the assessment.
How much does a panel replacement cost?
The cost varies with the capacity and the condition of the existing wiring. We provide a precise, detailed quote after the assessment, free of charge.
Do I need to notify Hydro-Québec?
For a 200 A panel or a service entrance, yes. We prepare the paperwork and coordinate the power cut with Hydro-Québec.
Can I replace my panel myself?
No. Any work on the panel requires a licensed electrical contractor and inspections compliant with the electrical code. It is also a matter of safety.
How long does the replacement take?
One day in most cases, power outage included. Everything is planned in advance.
What are the signs of a risky panel?
Breakers tripping often, a hot smell, a panel warm to the touch, or a brand like Federal Pacific, Zinsco or Stab-Lok.
